Amanda Thompson brings a warm, grounded, and approachable presence to her work with teens and families at Guide Behavioral Health. She specializes in supporting adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, emotional regulation challenges, and difficult life transitions, helping them feel understood, supported, and more confident in themselves.

Raised on the mid-peninsula in Belmont, Amanda has a deep connection to the Bay Area and the families she serves in Menlo Park and surrounding communities. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from UC Davis and her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University, graduating magna cum laude. Her clinical training includes work in county behavioral health, school-based counseling, and residential treatment, where she supported teens and young adults in both individual and group settings.

Amanda’s approach is collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed. She believes that real progress happens when teens feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard. She integrates evidence-based therapies including DBT and CBT, helping teens build practical skills for managing emotions, navigating stress, and improving relationships. Her style is calm, supportive, and down-to-earth—meeting each teen where they are without judgment.

She is especially drawn to working with adolescents because of how impactful this stage of life can be. Amanda values helping teens better understand themselves, build resilience, and develop healthier ways of coping and connecting—skills that carry forward into adulthood.

Outside of her clinical work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her Great Dane, hiking, traveling, and attending live music. She values mindfulness, movement, and holistic approaches to well-being. A fun fact—Amanda attended Notre Dame schools in Belmont from preschool through graduate school and later returned to work there, giving her a unique and meaningful connection to her community.
