Bryan Nguyen, LMFT at Guide Behavioral Health in Menlo Park, providing trauma-informed care for teens and young adults

Bryan Nguyen, LMFT

Chief Clinical Officer | Guide Behavioral Health

Bryan Nguyen brings deep compassion, personal insight, and clinical excellence to his work as a therapist at Guide Behavioral Health. A San Jose native and UC San Diego graduate, Bryan’s path into the field was shaped by his own recovery journey and a powerful desire to help others reclaim their lives from addiction, trauma, and emotional pain. Since getting sober in 2013, Bryan has dedicated over a decade to mastering the skills needed to support teens and families through some of life’s most difficult chapters.

Bryan holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology from UC San Diego and earned his MA in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, where he now serves as an adjunct lecturer and Correctional Psychology Emphasis Coordinator. He’s EMDR Certified and IFS Level 1 Certified, and has worked in a wide range of clinical settings—from school-based mental health and family therapy to PHP/IOP leadership at The Meadows Outpatient Center. He continues to provide therapy through his private practice and plays a key role mentoring new clinicians through SCU’s Therapist-in-Residence program.

Known for his ability to see the full picture of a client’s story, Bryan integrates cultural understanding, family dynamics, and trauma-informed care to create individualized treatment plans that actually work. His clinical approach is grounded in empathy and precision, with a strong belief that the challenges teens face often make sense when seen through the lens of their environment, experiences, and identity.

Whether he's teaching at San Quentin Prison or supporting a teen struggling with dual diagnosis, Bryan meets every client with genuine respect and unwavering support. His passion for helping teens lies in their grit—their ability to grow and heal even under immense pressure.

Outside the therapy room, you might find Bryan riding motorcycles, playing drums, cooking, or exploring creative outlets like ceramics, painting, and figure art. He’s also visited over 200 Harley dealerships across the world—and is still counting.
